Our Origin Story

They say necessity is the mother of invention, well that could not be more true for our founder Dr. Leslie Griffin! Back in 2012, Dr. Griffin and her husband were dissatisfied with their marriage. They knew something was wrong, but didn’t know how to fix it. Something had to change, but they didn’t know what or where to begin. That same year, Dr. Griffin’s husband was a part of a fantasy football league. One Sunday as he sat on the couch with his laptop open, the remote in one hand and his cell phone in the other, passionately yelling at Tom Brady and “trash talking” to his friends, it dawned on Dr. Griffin that they needed a change in perspective!

They needed to see themselves as teammates and not rivals. They needed to view their challenges as opponents to be defeated and opportunities for growth. They needed a better understanding of one another and a greater appreciation for their individual differences and collective strengths. They needed to work together to get back to a place of mutual satisfaction and enjoyment. They needed to develop their communication and problem-solving skills and they needed a plan/strategy to help them get there. They needed guidance and support to make sure they could maintain their progress, and with their busy schedules, they needed a convenient way to do it. What they needed was Marriage Champs!

Our Founder

Dr. Leslie Griffin is on a mission to improve marital outcomes in the Christian community! She envisions a world where 90% of heterosexual, Christian marriages survive and thrive!

Those who know Dr. Griffin describe her as compassionate, supportive, encouraging and understanding. She brings an optimistic enthusiasm to her work and believes that, “it’s never too late to live happily ever after.” While she is not a comedian, she tells lots of jokes because she appreciates a good laugh! She uses her professional training and personal experiences to help couples find real solutions to the challenges they’re facing. She hopes that her story will inspire others to “hang in there” long enough to witness the miracle of God’s amazing grace and redemptive power!

Dr. Griffin earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Sociology and Youth Studies from the University of Minnesota, a Master of Science degree in Family Therapy from Nova Southeastern University and a Doctorate degree in Family Studies from Texas Woman’s University. When she’s not working to improve marriages, she enjoys spending time with family and friends, listening to 90s music and watching true crime television. Dr. Griffin is a native Wisconsinite and always roots for the home team (Go Packers! Go Brewers! Go Bucks!). She’s been married for 21 years and lives in Dallas, Texas with her family.
